Mazama Country Inn
HCR 74, P.O. Box B9

Mazama, PA 98833

Our rustic mountain lodge is located at the edge of the Pasayten Wilderness, and only a short distance from the North Cascades National Park. Outside our door you'll find half a million acres of virgin timberland and mountains that reach all the way to Canada.

Our restaurant is considered one of the best in the area (ask the many locals who stop in). In the summer we offer breakfast, lunch and dinner from our extensive menu. Weather permitting (and it usually does), you can enjoy your meal outside on our restaurant deck.

In the winter we feature family-style dining for breakfast and dinner. Guests are invited to gather round our unique Russian Fireplace for hors d'oeuvres and drinks in the evening. Awaken in the morning to a country-style gourmet breakfast. The coffee bar opens early so you can sit and enjoy the snow covered view, while cozying up to the warmth of the fire.

Summertime at the Mazama Country Inn offers many activities for the outdoor enthusiast. The days are warm, the nights are cool, and there's very little rain. We have experts on staff to help you plan the perfect day hike (don't forget your camera, deer and marmot sightings are quite common.) The Pasayten Wilderness and North Cascades National Park offer miles of trails leading to lakes, waterfalls, wildflowers and wildlife. The inn has mountain bikes for rent, or bring your own and ride for miles on the mountain trails. If you enjoy horseback riding, we can arrange for a guided trail ride.

If you'd like a more relaxed, slower paced getaway, you can stroll the nature paths, delight in the exceptional bird watching, or read a book in the sitting room.

In the winter, cross-country skiing is our specialty. We have our own ski rental shop at the inn and our ski instructors offer tours and lessons for all abilities. Over 100 miles of groomed ski trails extend from outside our door. If you're interested in back country skiing, George, our manager, can advise you about getting off them ski trails. You can try an overnight wilderness trip in the nearby hut system, or ride a helicopter to slopes of deep untouched powder snow. Heli-skiing is available for cross-country or downhill skiers.

Birds, fishing, flowers, wildlife, all of these things are plentiful in the fall and spring at the Mazama Country Inn.

Springtime can be a very quiet time at the inn. Take a leisurely stroll or more ambitious hike through wildflowers. Bring binoculars for birdwatching. You can visit the quaint little town of Winthrop and do some shopping, or just walk along the boardwalk. If you need some excitement, there is white water rafting. You can also catch some late season heli skiing or back country skiing.

During the fall we have a spectacular natural display of fall colors here in the valley. The days are often warm and yet the crowds are gone, so fall means some of the best hiking and mountain biking of the year. A perfect time for a retreat.

At the Mazama Country Inn the lodgings are unique. We have 14 guest rooms, each has a private bath. We feature queen size beds in all of our rooms, and some rooms have additional beds. We also have a sauna and outdoor hot tub.

There is no smoking at the inn, and no pets please. In the winter we cannot accommodate children under 13, but we do have cabins available for families.

If you're looking for an ideal setting for a company retreat or seminar you can "take over the Inn." We'd be happy to help you arrange packages, events and activities to suit your needs.
