Getting here meant travel by rail or wagon. We've coma along way since then. The inn is gone, but what remains is the pristine scenery and a distinctive way of life. Set your own pace. There is so much, or so little to do. Discover the unspoiled, small town charm of our mountains. Dining doesn't mean fast food. Shopping doesn't mean malls. Living doesn't mean concrete highrises. Challenge yourself at Sapphire Mountain Golf Club. Architect Ron Garl has developed an 18-hole golfing jewel. Scenic splendor and creative design combine to invigorate the senses. If it's tennis you prefer, our tennis center features eight Har-Tru courts and two all weather courts. Sure, you can play tennis anywhere, but no other place has breathtaking mountain vistas and clean, sparkling air. For horseback riders, scenic rides on winding upland bridle trails give you a special view of the mountains that you can't see from the road. |

Enjoy a leisurely boat ride on Fairfield Lake. Canoes to explore the shoreline, fishing boats to search for the perfect fishing hole, or give your legs a workout in a paddleboat. Gem mining is how we got our name. There's nothing sophisticated about panning in a stream, but the fun and adventure will leave you richer for the experience. And who knows, you may find a stone to take home for a precious memory. Our expanded health club and recreation center unites fun & fitness. Indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzi, sauna, weight room, game room and miniature golf will keep the entire family busy on a rainy day. Our recreation staff hosts a variety of activities, special programs and day trips to area attractions. As for kids, your children will want to spend their summer vacation at Kids Kamp. Daily activities include nature hikes, water fun, field trips, gem mining, and sports competitions. For winter family fun, try your hand at downhill skiing.
